Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have discovered a variety of entertaining independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer lets you play a hero that is literally a turd trying to navigate to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: just use a single jump button. Across one hundred fifty levels, battle boss fights and unlock a market to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Execute your actions carefully, since one mistake forces restarting the level. Bounce using bubbles to hurl your character upward, traverse disappearing surfaces, and activate switches to unlock secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS for buying tougher stages in which the action gets crazy.

In terms of design, the experience shows off eye-catching level designs and a killer music score. The simple graphics with moving basic polygons may remind gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to name similar titles where you are a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently incorporated scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create explosives from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up heavily in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the final release set to debut on computers this November.
